Alex Webb: HOME Project

In this video, Alex Webb talks about the theme of “home” for the Magnum Photos HOME Project. The video is on the Home Magnum channel and runs about 2 minutes. Magnum Photos worked with FUJIFILM on this project.

Sixteen Magnum photographers received an open assignment to explore the subject through their own photography. In the project, home includes the place where someone lives and its emotional, biological, cultural, and social associations. Each photographer had room to approach the subject personally, starting with their own way of working.

The project description places HOME within Magnum's documentary photography, where art and photojournalism meet. According to that description, the photographers share a curiosity about the world and a tradition of humanist photography. A photo book and a traveling exhibition were announced as part of the project. The exhibition was to visit seven cities around the world.
