Loud clothing, makeup, fast food, and bored people. Martin Parr photographed it all on the English coast. In the 1980s, he became world-famous for his color photos of the British working class on vacation. His photos were sometimes serious, sometimes absurd, but always playful. He captures everyday life and mass tourism with humor.

This Close Up documentary follows Parr in 2023 as he photographs British people at street parties celebrating the coronation of Charles III. He also returns with his camera to New Brighton, the seaside town where his career began in the 1980s. Friends and colleagues talk about him and his work in interviews.

I Am Martin Parr runs about 53 minutes and is free to watch on NPO Start (Close Up). The documentary is not on YouTube.
