A Day with Sabrina Santiago

Paulie B spends a day walking through the city and talking with photographer Sabrina Santiago in episode 46 of Walkie Talkie.

About Sabrina Santiago

Sabrina Santiago is a photographer in New York. She studied at NYU Gallatin, where she focused on fashion, media, photography, and identity. Her documentary approach builds on the tradition of street photography. Identity, community, and self-discovery are recurring themes in her work. In an ongoing project, she photographs communities of color on the street, focusing on style, growing up, and cultural identity.

Santiago shoots exclusively on film and develops her black-and-white photos herself. Her favorite camera is her father's Yashica. During the walk with Paulie B, she uses a Yashica FX-3. Alongside her own photography, she teaches in the International Center of Photography's Open Education program.

She is working on her first monograph. Her photos have appeared in The New York Times and New York Magazine. Her work has also been shown in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central.
