Fotowolk September 17: Spiegelwaal loop
Theme of this walk: Where land meets water
The Spiegelwaal is an impressive side channel of the Waal near Nijmegen, built as part of the Ruimte voor de Rivier program. The project was designed to give the Waal extra room when water levels rise, preventing flooding and making the city safer. Its construction considerably changed the landscape around Nijmegen, bringing nature, recreation, and water management together in a distinctive way.
The Spiegelwaal is a great location for street and landscape photographers. Its modern water engineering structures, natural landscapes, and proximity to the city offer plenty of subjects to photograph.
This month we'll meet at the Tankversperring Lent WWII. There's also a bus stop around the corner, just past the Waalbrug. The walk starts at 9:30 a.m., and at 11:30 a.m. we'll finish with a drink together, perhaps at Café De Zon on Veur-Lent.
